"If you know others and know yourself, you will not be imperiled in a hundred battles; if you do not know others but know yourself, you win one and lose one; if you do not know others and do not know yourself, you will be imperiled in every single battle. " Sun Tzu, The Art of War

WELCOME

The US is fighting two wars. Since their inception our military continues to be increasingly tasked with all aspects of foreign policy and its implementation.

The world is too complex and too inter-reliant for this approach to continue to be acceptable.

The continued fear post 9-11 is distracting us from ways we can make ourselves safe. Ways we can live without depending on force alone. Ways we can implement change and establish the US as an accountable leader in the world.

The power is there, it is time to use it responsibly.

IIIP is a ground-breaking institute that asks tough questions about foreign policy, and links up those who know it is time to change the current “business as usual” policy. We are here to help develop leaders and assist in rebuilding our foreign policy institutions so they can act cooperatively and address tough issues outside of a strictly political realm.

We sponsor activities that highlight innovative American foreign policy initiatives, encourage deep questioning of assumptions, and support bi-partisan and broad debate about what role the US should be playing in order to make the world a safer and more productive place – for everyone.

It is time for the US to be responsible and admired in the world.  Right now they are feared.

It is time to think beyond the use of force.

For its people to make informed decisions and hold politicians and policy makers accountable for the results that form our future.

IIIP is a non-partisan think tank dedicated to encouraging public awareness, participation and debate

Because we all have a stake in the decisions that shape our world.
